TIPS ON HAVING A GAY (EX)BOYFRIEND, prequel to LOVE (and Other Uses for Duct Tape) by Carrie Jones won the Maine Literary Award.
Bruce Chadwick is a prolific historian whose best-selling book, GEORGE WASHINGTON'S WAR (Sourcebooks), was recently featured on both the History Channel's profile of George Washington and on its acclaimed thirteen part series on the American Revolution. Chadwick’s newest book, 1858: Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant and the War They Failed to See, has been praised by PW as “engagingly written… [as it] examines the lives of six who would become the biggest players in the Civil War” and will be published in April by Sourcebooks. Next up is his book with Wiley which examines the murder of another founding father, George Wythe.
Boris Gindin and David Hagberg’s MUTINY!: The True Events That Inspired The Hunt For Red October was published by Tor/Forge in May 2008.  This is the real story that inspired Tom Clancy’s THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, told by a Soviet naval officer who lived through it.
 
Edward Jaye's COOKIE SUTRA is a delightful and delicious parody of the KARMA SUTRA. The book has become such a huge success that it has recently gone into its seventh printing! This book has something for everyone "For lovers, for the adventurous, for the curious, for the bakers. Especially for the bakers."
 
Harold Robbins had a big year in 2007. Simon & Schuster published a new edition of A STONE FOR DANNY FISHER, a great work of American fiction.   The Robbins classic, THE CARPETBAGGERS, was published in a new edition by Tor/Forge.  Harold Robbins’s newest titles by Tor/Forge are THE LOOTERS published September 2007, and THE DECEIVERS coming September 2008.
 
Jean Plaidy continues to sell on both sides of the Atlantic.  In the UK, Arrow/Random House has recently bought every Plaidy title.  Stateside, Crown continues to sell Plaidy’s titles like hotcakes!  Upcoming titles include: THE MERRY MONARCH'S WIFE (January 2008), THE QUEEN'S DEVOTION (August 2008), TO HOLD THE CROWN (October 2008), and THE KING'S CONFIDANTE (April 2009)

St. Martin's Press has just inked the deal to publish four of Victoria Holt’s wonderful romantic suspense novels, MISTRESS OF MELLYN (coming January 2009), LORD OF THE FAR ISLAND, BRIDE OF PENDORRIC, and ON THE NIGHT OF THE SEVENTH MOON.
 

A gorgeous new Viking illustrated hardcover edition of John Steinbeck's THE ACTS OF KING ARTHUR was published in Fall of 2007 with a foreword written by Christopher Paolini. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has chosen John Steinbeck's THE GRAPES OF WRATH as one of the first books to be included in its new program called The Big Read; they are calling it the "largest literary initiative in the history of the NEA...best described as ambitious," both in its "commitment to quality, and commitment to democratic accessibility."   Active in 72 cities, this program is bringing new readers to Steinbeck's timeless works every day.
 
John Steinbeck's ONCE THERE WAS A WAR was published by Penguin Classics in Fall 2007 with a new introduction written by Mark Bowden, the best-selling author of Black Hawk Down (National Book Award Finalist, New York Times Notable Book of the Year).
 
With over 125,000 copies in print—and still counting, Upton Sinclair’s OIL! (Penguin 2007) was released as a Scott Rudin production of a P.T. Anderson film THERE WILL BE BLOOD in December 2007, nominated for eight Academy Awards including wins for Best Actor (Daniel Day Lewis) and Best Cinematography (Robert Elswit).  The movie has received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association award for best picture, director and actor honors.  The Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) rewarded Daniel-Day Lewis for Best Actor.
 
Debut novelist Jeremy Craig’s YA work of literary fiction (tentatively titled THE STRAITS) about life in post -Hurricane government trailer park housing and the caper that will save his remaining family is set for publication in Summer 2009 by Flux .
