Where Literary Legends Are Born

SLJ Awards A Star To MURDER ON THE BALTIMORE EXPRESS by Suzanne Jurmain!

Longtime McIntosh & Otis client Suzanne Jurmain will publish a new middle grade nonfiction, MURDER ON THE BALTIMORE EXPRESS, on 4/6/21 with Little Bee Books. Ahead of its release, the book has been awarded a starred review by School Library Journal!

MURDER ON THE BALTIMORE EXPRESS tells middle grade readers the story of an assassination attempt that nearly kept Abraham Lincoln from becoming president. A series of spy missions unfold, saving Lincoln just in the nick of time! SLJ enjoyed the book’s format, writing, “The text uses dialogue (documented in the appendix) to create a nonfiction title that reads like an appealing work of historical fiction. Pictures from the events and places described are included to further enhance the story.”

School Library Journal’s verdict is one we wholeheartedly agree with: They say MURDER ON THE BALTIMORE EXPRESS is “A perfect example of excellent narrative nonfiction and a must-have for any middle school library. This work will stand solidly beside books by James Swanson and Steve Sheinkin.”

McIntosh & Otis congratulates Suzanne! Can’t wait for the book’s release? Pre-order your copy today from Simon & Schuster or your local indie bookstore!
